On Thursday, January 4, 2007 around 8:45 p.m. Jessica and Shaun finally became engaged! As Jessica was recovering from dental surgery, Shaun was secretly planning an engagement. This is the story of how the engagement week began...

Monday

Shaun and Jessica celebrated New Year's Eve with Shaun's parents, Jessica's dad, Kevin and Jessica's brother, Colin. The next morning, Shaun asked Kevin for Jessica's hand in marriage. He of course could barely say "yes" because he was on the verge of tears. I believe Kevin's response was, "Shaun, you don't even need to ask. The answer is yes!"

Tuesday

Tuesday afternoon, Shaun, Jessica and Jessica's mom, Deborah traveled to Salisbury for Jessica's dental surgery. After a few hours of pain, the three of them left so Jessica could begin her recovery. Little did she know that Shaun had asked Jessica's mom for Jessica's hand in marriage at the dentists' office.

Wednesday

Not much excitement. Jessica was still recovering.

Thursday (The Big Day)

Jessica was supposed to return to work, but was still in a lot of pain. Shaun left for the day and Jessica stayed at home to rest. Around noon, Jessica felt as though she was ready to return to work. She grabbed her pain medication and called Shaun for a ride into the office. Jessica tried to do some work, but was still feeling horribly, so she asked Shaun for a ride home. He agreed and said the timing was perfect since he was leaving for a meeting in Maryland. He dropped Jessica off at home and she went to rest.

Shaun, did go to Maryland, but didn't go to a meeting. He had received a phone call from the jeweler in Salisbury and made a bee-line to pick up the ring. He had also arranged dinner plans at The Buttery in Lewes and flowers to be delivered for Friday. His proposal was set.

Shaun picked up the ring and drove back to the office where Jeff Burton, business associate and friend, was waiting for a meeting.

When Shaun came home from work, everything seemed normal to Jessica. They had dinner, went into the hot tub, and watched TV. As Jessica and Shaun were watching Ugly Betty in their matching Polo pajamas, Shaun told Jessica that he found an extra memory stick for her new camera at the office. He even told her that it had pictures on it. So... Shaun plugged her camera into their television and began to show her pictures of the past 4 years of their life together. As Jessica was crying and sweating, Shaun dropped to one knee and ask her to marry him! Of course, she said YES!
